Better Stack

Check current production monitor coverage and open-incident acknowledgment through a team-scoped read token.

Create a team token

This connector is available in customer v0.1.4 and current source-managed builds. Older v0.1.3 customer artifacts do not include it. Check release availability before creating a token.

In Better Stack, open API tokens → Team-based tokens, select the production team and create a dedicated Incidents API token with read-only access. Prefer this team scope over a global token. See Better Stack's API setup.

Sparta uses GET requests to list monitors and open incidents. A token with broader permissions retains that authority at Better Stack even though this connector only reads.

Define production coverage

  1. Open Integrations → Better Stack in Sparta and enter the token.
  2. In Settings, list every numeric Production monitor ID, one per line. An empty scope cannot establish coverage.
  3. Set the approved maximum check age and acknowledgment deadline. Both default to 15 minutes.
  4. Connect, run the healthcheck and sync. Enable the relevant supplemental sources on each control and collect a fresh result.

Interpret the checks

CheckWhat Sparta evaluates
Production monitor coverageEvery expected monitor is present, unpaused, up and checked within the configured freshness interval.
Incident acknowledgmentOpen incidents for the selected monitors have not exceeded the acknowledgment deadline without acknowledgment. Missing monitors or unknown incident timing require review.

Incomplete pagination does not count as a passing inventory. Verify the selected team, monitor IDs and token access when an expected monitor is missing.

Retain historical operating evidence

These are observations at collection time. They do not establish historical uptime, an availability SLA, notification delivery, resolution of past incidents or log retention. Retain incident reviews and historical reports separately.

This connection does not ingest Better Stack logs into Elastic or configure a log drain. Configure any native log delivery independently from Sparta's Elastic observation export.
